A dedication that is accentuated during the humanitarian, environmental and climate crises, which is reflected in the small and generous daily actions of proximity. Volunteering is a spontaneous force at the service of the person, a resource that joins the institutions prepared for rescue and reconstruction, giving greater effectiveness to their activities.” Thus the president of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of the International Day of Volunteering for Economic and Social Development.
“The same achievement of sustainable development goals – the United Nations reminds us – requires volunteers to overcome poverty, hunger, inequalities and promote peace,” he adds.
“The current edition of the Volunteering Day, from the theme ‘Every contribution counts’, takes on particular importance, opening the international year established by the UN to emphasize the importance and need to integrate this precious heritage of initiatives and values in policies aimed at the implementation of Agenda 2030. The Republic is grateful to the volunteers and their organizations for the precious action of solidarity they carry out,” concludes Mattarella.
