The Paley Center for Media will celebrate on December 18 the 50th anniversary of the institution with an initiative dedicated to the final season of Stranger Things, scheduled at the museum’s headquarters on West 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan. The appointment includes the screening of the last episode of Volume One of the fifth season and a meeting with a significant part of the cast.
It is rare that the cast of the series participates in public events, as the promotion of Stranger Things has developed mainly with streaming events, virtual panels and merchandising launches. It could be an unrepeatable occasion.
Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, Jamie Campbell Bower and David Harbour will participate. The moderation will be entrusted to journalist Perri Nemiroff of Collider. The Paley Center predicted the collective vision in the room of the new episode before the conversation.
The fifth season of the series is set in the autumn of 1987 and resumes the plot since the city of Hawkins is subjected to military quarantine after the opening of the “Rifts”. Meanwhile, Vecna is missing while federal authorities intensify research on Eleven and the protagonists prepare for the classic final confrontation.
The Paley Center reported that screening tickets in the Bennack Theater are sold out. Some places reserved exclusively for members of the Patron and President’s Circle programs remain available, while the general public can subscribe to a waiting list that will allow, possibly, access to a closed-circuit view within the museum.
The Paley Center announced a quite dense calendar for December. Among the events are a retrospective on the Beatles, a meeting with sports journalist Bob Costas and a preview of the second season of the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. PaleyLand continues, the Christmas programming that includes workshops, activities for families and themed installations, proposed every year until the first days of January.
