AMSTERDAM (OLANDA) (ITALPRESS) – Stellantis and Bolt, a leading mobility platform in Europe, today announced the start of a collaboration to explore together the development and dissemination of autonomous driving vehicles of level 4 (without driver) for commercial operations in Europe.
The collaboration will integrate Stellantis AV-Ready Platforms – in particular eK0 for medium-sized vans and the STLA Small – with Bolt’s extensive mobility network. Bolt today offers mobility services in over 50 countries, including 23 EU member states, and aims to integrate Stellantis’ autonomous vehicles into its shared mobility platform, to offer fully autonomous and driverless solutions.
Stellantis AV-Ready Platforms are designed to ensure flexibility and scalability, integrating advanced sensors, high performance computing capabilities and system redundancies to meet the highest safety and reliability standards, while also optimizing the total cost of ownership for service operators, making them one of the most competitive solutions in the industry. The two companies plan to start the road of test vehicles in Europe from 2026, with the aim of creating a service that respects the highest standards of safety and performance.
The development programme will follow a gradual approach: from prototypes to pilot fleets, to industrial scalability, with an initial production planned for 2029.
Both companies will work closely with the European regulatory authorities to support a responsible approach to testing, certification and broad-scale dissemination, in full alignment with the applicable standards in security, data protection and cybersecurity.
For Stellantis, this collaboration expands the ever-growing ecosystem of partners in Europe and strengthens its global driverless mobility strategy, leveraging the AV-Ready Platforms designed for a secure and reliable diffusion of the 4-wide autonomous driving.
For Bolt, the partnership marks a decisive step towards the goal of making available, by 2035, 100,000 autonomous driving vehicles on their shared mobility platform.
“Our AV-Ready Platforms are designed to ensure maximum flexibility, in order to offer the best possible experience to European customers. Autonomous driving fleets can also help reduce carbon footprint by promoting more efficient shared mobility, reducing traffic and emissions. The collaboration with Bolt aims to make this a reality, combining our engineering experience with their operational capacity, with the aim of making mobility without driver in a reliable reality in European daily life,” said Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis.
“This partnership combines two companies that know the dynamics of the European market. Thanks to the integration of Stellantis AV-Ready Platforms and our operational experience, we aim to offer the best range of autonomous vehicles, designed for European needs and compliant with European standards, intended for millions of users. The agreement marks a decisive step towards our ambition to make available 100,000 autonomous vehicles on the Bolt platform by 2035,” said Markus Villig, founder and CEO of Bolt.
