Support for energy enhancement of forest biomass in compliance with sustainable forest management and certification. dissemination of technical and scientific knowledge and support initiatives at the Public Administration and development of awareness-raising activities aimed at citizens on the correct use of wood, pellets and patches, with particular attention to the quality of air. These are the main points of the new Protocol of Understanding between Aiel-Italian Association of Agroforestry energies, Ersaf-Regional body for services to agriculture and forests, Fiper-Federation of energy producers from renewable sources, and Uncem-National Union common mountain communities, signed today in Milan at the headquarters of the Regional Authority for the Services to agriculture and the Forests of the Region of Lombardy in the presence of the presence of the.
The agreement, of the three-year and renewable duration, was born with the aim to support the development of agroforestry chains and to promote its sustainable energy use as a strategic lever for the economic, social and environmental growth of the mountain, rural and internal Italian territories.
With the accession to the Aiel, Ersaf, Fiper and Uncem Protocol, they reinforce a common vision that recognises in agroforestry resources an essential heritage for energy transition, sustainable land management and the development of mountain communities. Other points of the protocol include promoting biomass district heating in mountain and rural areas; the collaboration with public institutions for the adoption of regulatory measures that strengthen renewable agricultural and forestry energies; support for the implementation of the national law 158/2017 on small municipalities, the national law 221/2015 on the Green Economy, the Legislative Decree 24/2018 for the forest industry; support for renewable energy communities and territorial bioenergy initiatives.

On behalf of Regione Lombardia, he prepares annually the Report on the State of the Forests. This is Fabio Losio – President ERSAF Regional agency for services to agriculture and forests, a document that outlines the situation of Lombard forests, their increase and their use through all the rings of the supply chain.”.
“The signature of this Protocol – says Domenico Brugnoni, President of AIEL Italian Agroforestry Association – is an important step to strengthen the role of woody biomass in the country’s energy transition.
Mountain and rural areas have resources that, if managed responsibly, can generate economic value, energy security and community services. “The subscription of this Protocol – adds Michele Colli – President of FIPER Federation of Energy Producers from Renewable Sources, is a strategic step to strengthen the collaboration between realities that share a clear vision: the country’s energy transition from the abandonment of fossil sources and the promotion of truly sustainable technologies.”.
