ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Mazda with the new CX-5 reiterates its commitment to safety and advanced driving assistance technologies, obtaining the five stars in the latest Euro NCAP tests. The car has reached 90% in the protection of adult occupants, 89% in the protection of children, an excellent 93% in the protection of vulnerable road users and 83% in the evaluation of safety care systems. Mazda’s human-centric technology ensures everyone greater safety, serenity and even more fulfilling driving experience. As for the score of 90% in the protection of adult occupants, the cabin has been stable in the disassed front impact test, offering good knee protection and femurs. The areas considered critical have recorded safety levels judged by good to adequate, with excellent performance both in the impact test against side barrier and in the one against rigid barrier to full width. In the severe side impact test against a pole, the protection offered was judged appropriate. Among the front seats, safety was further improved by the good control of the occupants’ movements and the effective intervention of the opposite side airbag. The protection from the whip was excellent both for the front and rear seats, thanks also to the presence of the advanced eCall, the secondary impact attenuation system and the proven functionality of doors and windows in case of dive.
The new Mazda CX-5 scored 89% in the protection of children, reaching the maximum result with the 6 and 10 years old mannequins in the disapproved front impact tests and a side barrier. The automatic deactivation of the passenger airbag ensures high compatibility with a wide range of child restraint systems (CRS). There is also an indirect system of detection of the presence of a child on board, and all approved safety seats can be installed without difficulty and under optimal safety conditions. With regard to vulnerable road users, the new CX-5 has recorded performance from good to adequate in the impact with the head and has achieved the highest scores for the protection of the lower body. The autonomous emergency braking system (AEB), able to detect pedestrians and cyclists, including those coming from behind, has demonstrated excellent behavior both in retromarcia scenarios and in those opening doors. The car has also achieved the maximum rating for the protection of motorcyclists, reaching a total rating of 93%. The new Mazda CX-5 has a complete package of Advanced Driving Support Systems (ADAS), which supported its 83% Safety Assist score. The AEB system reacts effectively to other vehicles, while standard reminders for safety belts and direct driver monitoring improve everyday safety. The support system for the maintenance of the lane gently corrects the involuntary deviations, intervening more decisively when necessary. The speed assistance system reliably recognizes local limits, with optional adjustment options.
Up-to-date ADAS technologies further increase safety and driving comfort. The Smart Brake Support (SBS) system facilitates low-speed maneuvers and signals in advance the presence of stationary vehicles or slow-downs in traffic, while the improved Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) detects vehicles and bicycles in blind spots during change of direction. The Driver Emergency Assist (DEA) and the Driver Monitoring intervene in case of decreased driver attention, while visual and sound alerts help maintain concentration. The Lane Change Assist (LCA), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK) and Proactive Driver Assist (PDA) systems ensure a smoother and more controlled march. The top-end equipment integrates 360° visual monitoring for parking manoeuvres, with views from the top and top. Rated with five stars from Euro NCAP, the new Mazda CX-5 combines refined design and cutting-edge technologies, including the new man-machine interface (HMI), to ensure maximum safety in every driving condition.
