In November the market for industrial vehicles grows, but the figure of 2025 remains negative

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In November the market for industrial vehicles with a mass of more than 3.5 tonnes recorded an overall increase of 18.3% compared to the same month of 2024, reaching 2.335 registrations against the 1.973 of the previous year.

The trend of individual segments shows different dynamics. Vehicles between 3.51 and 6 t show a slight increase of 3.6% (from 56 to 58 units), while segment 6,01-15,99 t recorded a contraction of 14.3%, descending from 272 to 233 registrations.

The trend of heavy vehicles with a mass equal to or greater than 16 t, which progressed by 24,3%, from 1.645 to 2.044 units. Within the segment, the tanks grow 16.3% (from 731 to 850 units) and the road tractors of 30.6% (from 914 to 1.194 units). In the cumulated January-November 2025, the vehicle market over 3.5 t totals 25.655 registrations, still falling (-3.7%) compared to 26.653 registered in the same period of 2024. This is what emerges from the estimate of the market of industrial vehicles for November carried out by the UNRAE Study and Statistics Centre – on the basis of the registration data provided by the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport.

“Although the signals from the November market are positive, the section continues to highlight significant delays in the process of renewal of the circular park and transition towards more sustainable means – comments the newly elected President of the Industrial Vehicles Section of UNRAE, Giovanni Dattoli –. In view of the imminent click-day of December 17, we believe that the resources currently allocated – €9.2 million for industrial vehicles – are insufficient and require a more targeted distribution, to better support the Constructors in compliance with European targets. It is also urgent to define in a clear way the use of the 6 million additional ones already previewed for the 2025′′.

“It needs a different approach, supported by appropriate tools – adds Dattoli –. An incentive to purchase is no longer sufficient: the use of means that reduce the total cost of possession of vehicles technologically and environmentally virtuous”.

“It is essential that the government intervenes with tangible measures to create enabling conditions that accelerate the transition of heavy transport. Among the priorities, we consider it indispensable to adapt Italy to European standards with the transposition of the Eurovignette Directive, introducing differentiated highway fares according to CO2 emissions and the total exemption from charges for zero-emission vehicles – concludes -. We welcome the extraordinary measure of 590 million euros recalled in the MIT forecasting state for the period 2027-2031, intended for the scrapping of the most obsolete and polluting vehicles. UNRAE hopes that these resources will be used with a far-sighted perspective, aligned with the European objectives and the commitments of the Constructors, and that a concrete roadmap for the decarbonization of freight on rubber is defined.”.
