ABU DHABI (United Arab Emirates) (ITALPRESS) – The tour started in the United Arab Emirates of the Neapolitan band Ars Nova: Nu Folk concerts, a musical genre that combines ancient sounds and melodies in South Italy, islands and the world, with the immersive rhythms of rock and pop music.
The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Neapolis2500 Committee, and realized thanks to the collaboration of the Italian Institute of Culture of Abu Dhabi, is part of the celebrations for the foundation of Naples, which took place 2500 years ago. The Ars Nova, a group of five elements (Marcello Squillante, voce e accordionica; Michelangelo Nusco, violin, trumpet and mandolin; Vincenzo Racioppi, mandolin and charango; Gianluca Fusco, guitar, accordion diatonica and gaita; Antonino Anastasia, framed drums; and Bruno Belardi, double bass), started their journey on December 10 at The Fridge in Dubai, in Alserkal Avenue, one of the most trendy areas of the city., winning a remarkable success. They continued for Abu Dhabi with two concerts, on December 12 at the Amphitheatre of the Cultural Foundation, a prestigious emiratina institution, and on December 13 in the fantastic context of Jubail Island, within the Manar Art Festival. Finally, on December 14 in Nu Island, in the city of Sharjah, as part of the famous “Jazz at the Island” event.
In the program also a masterclass for music students, at the IIC in Abu Dhabi on the morning of 13 December, with an excursus on Neapolitan music and the final performance of a song along with participating students.
“It is a great honor for our Institute to bring the Nu Folk musical genre into the Gulf, of which the Ars Nova are European leaders, combining tradition and contemporaryness, ancient melodies and experimental and modern sounds,” said the Director of the Italian Institute of Culture, Susanna Iacona-Salafia. “The celebration of Neapolis2500 also in the Emirates, through this concert but also other initiatives, sanctions the deep cultural link between Italy and this part of the world. A constant dialogue with the territory, which our institution carries out with constancy and presence.”.
