ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A day that blue youth will remember. Italy opens the European Championships of Pristina with a heavy performance, of those that make noise in the medallion. Above all, Anna Frassica, a splendid European Champion of -53kg, is the protagonist of a very tight final against the Czech Veronika Levakova, resolved with two rounds of great clarity after a complex start. A gold that certifies the level of the young blue, flawless even in the semifinals against the Spanish Alica Alonso, beat in a match that required management, readings and cold blood. “I am very happy with the result, I still struggle to believe it. The expectations before competing were very high because I felt ready” explained the new European champion Frassica “and as future goals obviously there is to bring my name up and make this sport my work”.
On the same day the silver of Giulia Galiero also arrives in -46 kg, protagonist of an authoritative path until the final against the Bulgarian Alisa Angelova, after a semi-final won with tactical intelligence against the Croatian athlete Sofija Ilic and a route built turn after turn with great personality.
“I am pleased with this result, it was definitely a high-level race and with really good athletes” Galiero told “and for the future I hope and expect to bring back other results”. The same weight is the bronze of Elisa Bertagnin, who after passing the Russian Ekaterina Pavlova to the quarters and the Turkish Ezgi Sener to the eighths, yields in the semifinals to Angelova but conquers a medal of value, fruit of a solid and mature day. “For this race I had great expectations because I wanted to reconfirm after last year, when I arrived third, and I knew that this year there were many strong and valid athletes” Bertagnin explained “the goal is now to train me even more and take away even more satisfaction in the next races”.
