ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In November 2025 the number of employees, equal to 24 million 188 thousand, is decreasing compared to the previous month. The decrease involves the employees to term (2 million 477 thousand) and the self-employed (5 million 215 thousand), while the permanent employees are substantially stable (16 million 496 thousand). Istat estimates it, adding that employment increases compared to November 2024 (+179 thousand employed in one year), as a synthesis of the growth of permanent employees (+258 thousand) and self-employed (+126 thousand) partially offset by the decline of term employees (-204 thousand). On a monthly basis, the employment and unemployment rate fell to 62.6% and 5.7% respectively, while the inactivity rate rose to 33.5%. Specifically, in November 2025, on a monthly basis, the fall in employment and the unemployed is associated with the growth of inactive persons.
The decrease in employment (-0.1%, equal to -34 thousand units) involves women, longterm employees and self-employed persons, 15-24 years and 35-49 years; the number of employees grows for the 25-34 years and remains substantially stable among men, permanent employees and among those who are at least 50 years old. The employment rate falls to 62.6% (-0.1 points). The decrease in people seeking work (-2.0%, equal to -30 thousand units) concerns men, women and all age groups except 25-34 years for which the number of unemployed is slightly increasing. The unemployment rate falls to 5.7% (-0.1 points), the youth rate to 18.8% (-0.8 points). The growth of inactives between 15 and 64 years (+0.6%, equal to +72 thousand units) affects both genders and all age groups, except for 25-34 years, among which the number of inactives is decreasing. The inactivity rate rises to 33.5% (+0.2 points).
Compared to the quarter September-November 2025 with the previous one (June-August) there is an increase in the number of employed (+0.3%, equal to +66 thousand units). Compared to the previous quarter, people in search of work decrease (-3.1%, equal to -48 thousand units) and are substantially stable the inactives of 15-64 years. In November 2025, the number of employees exceeded that of November 2024 of 0.7% (+179 thousand units); the increase concerns men, women, 25-34 years and those who are at least 50 years old, in the face of the decrease in other age groups. The employment rate, in one year, rises by 0.3 percentage points. Compared to November 2024, both the number of people seeking work (- 6.7%, equal to -106 thousand units) and the number of inactive persons between 15 and 64 years (-0.3%, equal to -35 thousand units).
