Summit in Rome on Lake Trasimeno water crisis “A solution soon”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – A technical-political summit was held in Rome, chaired by Civil Protection Minister Nello Musumeci, to address issues surrounding the water crisis affecting Lake Trasimeno. Present were Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Galeazzo Bignami, Undersecretary Emanuele Prisco, President of the Umbria Region Donatella Tesei, representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, the Civil Protection Department, the National Extraordinary Commissioner for Phenomena on Water Scarcity, the director of the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, the Tuscany Region and the Basin Authority. The causes that led to the lowering of the level of Lake Trasimeno were examined, and a possible path was identified, which will be studied in depth at a special meeting of the Steering Committee to be convened at the Ministry of the Environment. At that meeting, the steps will be defined to make the lake navigable for all boats, including ferries, and at the same time work to dredge and quickly eliminate this inconvenience. “I immediately picked up President Tesei’s cry of alarm and formed the working table with the institutions concerned. I grasped everyone’s good will in finding a solution soon, even with extraordinary but swift and effective measures,” says Musumeci. For her part, the president of the Umbria region said she was “aware of the problems that operators and fishermen are suffering in recent months, and we are working to make sure that the problems inherent in Lake Trasimeno are resolved as soon as possible,” she adds.- photo press office minister for civil protection, Nello Musumeci -(ITALPRESS)
