ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A high leader of Hamas has expressed doubts about the intentions of Israel regarding the maintenance of the ceasefire in Gaza and the passage to the second phase of the agreement, which previews the withdrawal from new areas of the territory and the opening of the Rafah Pass. However, he confirmed that the movement “will respect its commitments, including the delivery of the Gaza Government to a Palestinian entity and the discussion on a specific formula for resistance weapons”. In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, the source – informed of the details of the negotiations – accused Israel of wanting to maintain instability on the ground by imposing new rules of engagement with force, as occurred since the beginning of the year. From the entry into force of the ceasefire on 10 October 2025, some 431 Palestinians were killed in Israeli violations. Only in the last 8 days, 21 people have lost their lives in targeted raids and bombings, including 3 Hamas activists, 3 children and a child.
Among the most recent episodes: a kamikaze drone hit Thursday evening a tent in Khan Yunis killing 4 people, including 3 minors; Wednesday, an al-Qassam Brigade camp commander was targeted at East Gaza. The Israeli army claimed operations as a response to gunfires against its forces. A failed rocket launch from the north of Gaza, attributed by the IDF to militia, would be according to local sources exploded for manipulation of residual warfare by children. The leader of Hamas accused Israel of trying to impose control over the territory through periodic targeted assassinations and killings of civilians near the demarcation line, with over 200 victims in western areas without real threat to Israeli troops.
