First win for Venezia, Genoa defeated 2-0

VENICE (ITALPRESS) – Venezia overcame Genoa 2-0 in the match at the “Penzo” stadium, valid for the fifth day of Serie A: goals by Gianluca Busio and Joel Pohjanpalo decided the match, giving the newly promoted team from the lagoon its first success in this championship. Definitely better the team coached by Eusebio Di Francesco; step back instead for the Ligurian one, led by Alberto Gilardino. The red and blue formation tries to start strong right away with a conclusion by Vitinha, who, however, kicks too weakly, missing the target. On 11′ came the hosts’ riposte with Oristanio who, on Ellertson’s suggestion, let off an insidious shot on which Gollini made a great intervention. Five minutes later there is work for the Var, which has to intervene on a contact in the area between Candela and Vitinha: after a long check an earlier offside of the striker is confirmed (otherwise there were the extremes to grant a penalty). At 22′ Frendrup steals the ball from Pohjanpalo and triggers the counterattack by serving Vitinha, who goes to the rite but again sins of inaccuracy. Eusebio Di Francesco’s boys also showed up in the offensive zone and in 34′ went close to scoring the lead with Busio who, on Svoboda’s assist, sent his header just wide. At the end of three minutes of recovery time, it was back to the locker room at the 0-0 scoreline. In the opening minutes of the second half, Malinosvkyi falls victim to a very bad ankle injury and is forced to leave the field to Pinamonti: a long stop is feared for the Ukrainian. In 58′ Marchetti awarded a penalty kick to Venezia for a foul by De Winter on Busio: Pohjanpalo came from the penalty spot but Gollini hypnotized the Finn and parried the penalty. The Venetians’ goal for the lead, however, is only postponed and at 63′ Gianluca Busio, with a cross-shot, mocks a careless Gollini and makes it 1-0. Genoa tried to react but it was still the orange and green that struck and, five minutes from 90′, fixed the result at the final 2-0 with Joel Pohjanpalo. By virtue of this success, Venezia rises to 4 points and leaves the last place in the standings; while Genoa remains firm at 5.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
