CATANIA (ITALPRESS) – A timely and decisive intervention of the Carabinieri of the Nucleo Radiomobile of Catania has allowed to save life to a newborn of only 5 months. The alarm was triggered as a result of a call to the 112 NUE made by a young mother’s sister who, after locking in the bedroom with the child, had sent a message in which he expressed his intention to make an extreme gesture.
The military reached the place from where the message had started, a building, then going up to the top floor and entering the apartment, where the young woman had barricaded. Considered the situation of extreme danger and the urgency to intervene, the Carabinieri forced access to the room, succeeding in blocking the mother while suffocating the baby with his hands and with a pillow.
Thanks to the readiness and professionalism of the military, it was immediately practiced the heart massage to the small, who fortunately regained knowledge after a few moments.
The child was then entrusted to the care of the health care and transported to the Emergency Office of the Hospital “San Marco”, where he is currently hospitalized in the department of Pediatrics for investigations, but not in danger of life. The mother, on the other hand, was subjected to mandatory health treatment and was admitted to the psychiatric department for the start of specialist care and investigations.
