Aeronautica Militare, two emergency medical flights for a child and a man

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A child in imminent danger of life transferred from Catania to Genoa; I also rescue a man from Capri to Naples-Capodichino following serious trauma. Between the evening of yesterday, Thursday, February 12, and the first hours of today, the crews in alertness of the Air Force have successfully completed two emergency sanitary transports.

The interventions allowed the rapid transfer of a child and a man who needed indifferable specialist medical care. Both flights, as it happens for this kind of activity, have been authorized by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers that manages and coordinates the activities of the fleet of state aircraft.

In the evening of yesterday, a Gulfstream G650 aircraft of the 31st Storm of Ciampino took off at the time of Catania to take a 10-year-old girl in imminent danger of life. The small, constantly assisted by a medical team and accompanied by family members, was transported urgently to the airport of Genoa, where it landed around 19:50. An ambulance then guaranteed the final transfer to the target hospital.

The request was received from the Prefecture of Catania to the Summit Situazioni Hall of the Command Air Team – 1st Air Region of Milan, which immediately activated the 31st Stormo.

On the night, a helicopter HH-139B of the 85th SAR Center (Search and Rescue) of the 15th Storm, stationed in Practice of Sea, intervened to rescue a man victim of severe trauma on the island of Capri. The crew recovered the injured and transported him, along with a medical team, to the airport of Naples-Capodichino for the subsequent shelter.

The mission order came from the Operations Room of the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) of the Aerospace Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (FE). Missions of this kind to the community constitute one of the institutional tasks carried out by the Air Force.

The flying departments are available to citizens 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with means and crews able to operate, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances.

Every year there are hundreds of flight hours carried out for this kind of interventions from the planes of the 31st Storm of Ciampino, the 14th Storm of Practice of Sea, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa and the helicopters of the 15th Storm of Cervia.
