MILAN (ITALPRESS) – A memorandum of understanding to promote research, technological development and innovation in scientific fields of common interest is the one signed today between the University of Milan-Bicocca and the Polytechnic University of Turin, which are thus strengthening their collaboration.
The agreement, signed by the chancellor of Milano-Bicocca Giovanna Iannantuoni and the chancellor of the Politecnico di Torino Stefano Paolo Corgnati, lays the groundwork for a strategic synergy between two major Italian universities, combining skills and resources to address some of the major scientific and technological challenges.
The agreement calls for the implementation of joint projects in three priority areas: the development of new materials for energy, the improvement of air quality, and innovation in the health and biomedical sectors. Collaboration between the two universities will be realized through joint research initiatives, technical and scientific consulting, promotion of the culture of innovation and activities to disseminate scientific and technological knowledge in their respective territories.
The agreement includes experimentation with new forms of science communication and dissemination with the aim of spreading high-tech knowledge and experience within the social fabric. “This collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin represents a significant step to strengthen research in strategic sectors for the country’s future. By pooling expertise and infrastructure, we can effectively address the challenges of energy transition, environmental sustainability and health,” said Rector Giovanna Iannantuoni.
Rector Stefano Paolo Corgnati stressed, “The agreement signed with the University of Milan-Bicocca represents a strategic opportunity for the evolution of research and educational offerings. The two universities will make their knowledge and laboratories available to create joint research groups together, fully synergistic, thus launching an important joint venture that, starting from a training of excellence, can reach practical application of the highest level. We will also develop a joint internationalization plan to bring our expertise to our hubs present in strategic development countries.”
The protocol also includes support for academic and professional training paths for students and doctoral students, which encourage inter-university mobility and collaboration on joint higher education and research programs. The partnership between Milano-Bicocca and the Politecnico di Torino, which will last three years and can be renewed, is a concrete example of how cooperation between universities can generate value for society as a whole.
