ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Emma Aicher wins the second free descent of St. Moritz in Switzerland, valid for the Women’s World Cup 2025/2026 of alpine skiing. The young German marks the second career victory in the discipline, the third overall, thanks to the time of 1’30′′′50, which allows her to beat the American Lindsey Vonn and Sofia Goggia, detached, respectively, of 0′′24 and 0′′′29, with the blue that redeems the fourth place of yesterday. Compared to the first descent we also improve Laura Pirovano, who completes a beautiful race and closes in sixth place, detached of 0′′76. At points, but very distant, also Roberta Melesi (24th to 1′′′73) and Elena Curtoni (28th to 2′′00); while they closed over thirty positions Nicol Delago (33th), Nadia Delago (38th), Sara Thaler (41th) and Vicky Bernardi (49th). Finally, it went out of competition in the third sector Asja Zenere.
“I did a good race yesterday with imperfections, today I made a race with more hair on the stomach. Too bad for that left foot that brought me very low, there I thought I couldn’t get the next door. I lost my push there. An important mistake but we are, but confidence in this discipline comes round after round.” So Sofia Goggia at the Rai microphones comments on the third place in the free descent of St. Moritz. “I don’t apologize, but I’ve been here for two months in which I’ve been mostly giant because in America temperatures were so high that they didn’t let us train in speed,” he added.
Finally, on finding himself on the podium with Lindsey Vonn: “Last year, in October, he complained about his return. I called her and told her it would be a dream to be back on the podium together. Today it happened but I have already seen his face, she likes to win, like me. We’re so happy, it’s a battle just started. There are all the conditions for an exciting season,” said the blue champion.
