ROME (ITALPRESS) – “As we celebrate the 102nd anniversary of its founding, I turn my thoughts to those who in service with the Air Force have lost their lives, bearing witness to the highest values with courage and loyalty. To them and to the Air Force’s multi-decorated War Flag, the Republic pays deferential tribute. In more than a century of history, the Air Force has combined experience with innovation, distinguishing itself through competence and determination in the many areas to which Parliament and Government have called it: in the air defense of national space, in participation in missions decided by the international community, in humanitarian and emergency relief operations.” Thus the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Squadron General Luca Goretti.
“In a context characterized by increasingly complex challenges, the Air Force continues to play an essential role,” the head of state continued. Guided by the principles of our Constitution, the Armed Force faces the trials of the aerospace and cyber domains, investing in innovation and technological development, and in training. To the women and men who, with discipline, dedication and spirit of sacrifice, work daily for the security of our national community and the protection of the international community, goes the most heartfelt thanks. With these sentiments, I extend my best wishes to all Air Force personnel on this important anniversary, coupled with the highest appreciation for their tireless service to the homeland. Long live the Air Force, long live the Armed Forces, long live the Republic!”
