PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – In the period between 22 and 28 December, approximately 115 thousand passengers will be travelling from Palermo Airport “Falcone Borsellino” (Falcone Borsellino). It makes known the Gesap, company of management of the port of call, emphasizing in a note that the overall figure highlights a hold of the demand, with a significant increase of the international traffic, greater than 20%, in front of a contraction of the domestic traffic pairs to approximately -5%. The picture that emerges is consistent with the general trends of tourism and with the evolution of the demand for mobility that sees the increase in the incidence of international flows, while it is reduced that of national trips. A dynamic that reflects, on the one hand, the strengthening of the activity of Sicily on the foreign markets and, on the other, a physiological remodelling of domestic demand.“The data confirms a clear trajectory: the airport of Palermo is consolidating its international profile, consistent with the dynamics of European tourism – says Gianfranco Battisti, managing director of Gesap – The growth of international passengers is the direct result of the increase of the tourist factor. The decline in domestic traffic – Battisti concludes – is read within a wider context of rebalancing demand, while the international trend highlights the capacity of the port of call to intercept new markets and new segments of travellers. It is on this director that we will continue to work, to make Palermo increasingly connected, accessible and competitive in the Mediterranean and European airport scenario.” – photo office Gesap – (ITALPRESS).
