ROME (ITALPRESS) – The great wait is coming to an end. Amid poisons and tensions today America goes to the polls to determine who, between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, will be the 47th president of the United States. All polls give a neck-and-neck between the two candidates; a few thousand votes could decide. Great anticipation in particular for the seven swing states, poised Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada. These are the states that will play a key role in the election to the White House. More than 78 million Americans have already expressed their preference: on the last day of campaigning Harris chose Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Trump Grand Rapids, Michigan. The two contenders, meanwhile, “tied” with three votes each in the small New Hampshire town of Dixville Notch, kicking off Election Day: four Republicans and two undeclared voters participated.
The town, located along the U.S.-Canadian border at the northern tip of New Hampshire, opened and closed its polls shortly after midnight, following a tradition dating back to 1960.
“As the great Congressman John Lewis reminded us, democracy is not a state: it is an act. It is our time to act. And together, we will win,” Harris wrote in X. Then, speaking in Philadelphia-in the presence of Lady Gaga-he added that “the race is not over yet and we need to finish strong. This could be one of the closest races in history. Every single vote counts.”
From the stage in Grand Rapids, a two-hour rally to close his campaign. The former president promised to “lead America and the world to new heights.” “With your vote we can solve all the problems that plague our country and take America and the world to new heights of glory.”
