ROME (ITALPRESS) – At the Stadio Olimpico, Roma still did not turn booing into applause, but won a valuable 1-0 victory over Torino. A success that allows the Giallorossi to move to 13 points in the standings, one less than the Granata themselves. After the 5-1 suffered at home to Fiorentina, Ivan Juric needed a convincing success to save his bench: the three points came thanks to a goal (the first on action in the season) by Dybala, but the problems to be solved in the Roma house still seem many. Roma dominated ball possession in the first half (68 percent), stifling the granata’s maneuver but creating few chances. Juric’s team simply punishes the only blunder of the opponent’s defense. In 20′ Linetty misses a back pass and serves an unintentional assist to Dybala, who avoids Milinkovic-Savic and scores from an impossible position, despite the sliding intervention on the line of Masina, who arrives on the ball without managing to push it away from the goal. There are, however, two important chances in the first half for Toro. In 35′ Adams tried unsuccessfully to trouble Svilar with a header in the center of the box, while five minutes later a volleyed cross from Vojvoda took a backhand effect and finished just wide.
At halftime Vanoli spends a change: off comes Gineitis, in comes Njie. The 19-year-old striker at 66′ dribbled past Mancini and let off a sharp right-footed shot toward the far post, but Svilar was alert in the dive and cleared. A minute earlier Juric had made his first change: off goes Pisilli, in comes a booed Pellegrini. Whistles also for Cristante, who takes Baldanzi’s place, while Shomurodov and El Shaarawy replace Dybala and Zalewski. More physicality for a Roma side that managed to defend the lead against a Torino side that was never really dangerous in the second half. Four minutes of stoppage time: Roma defends neatly and Juric against his past tries to save his bench. The Olimpico, however, continues to boo.
