Aracu confirmed as president of the Federation of Rotational Sports

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Skate Italia chooses the path of continuity. Sabatino Aracu will still preside over the Italian Federation of Roller Sports for the next four-year Olympic period 2025-28. This was decided by the 47th Ordinary National Assembly at the Midas Palace in Rome that renewed the federal offices. With a quorum of 78.28 percent of the 721 affiliates present among clubs and technicians, the L’Aquila-based executive was confirmed for the ninth time at the helm of the Italian Federation of All Wheel Sports, with 90.46 percent of the vote. A clear victory over the other candidate Michele Grandolfo that rewards the commitment and work done in the last four years and makes Sabatino Aracu the longest-serving federal president in the history of Italian sports. “It has been 32 years since my first term in office,” remarked an excited Sabatino Aracu, “In these months I have received so many invitations to continue and it has been a great boost. We have done capillary work with all the regional committees. This modus operandi needs to be strengthened, because in our offices, among our employees, the passion for casters is evident. In this what will be my last four-year term, I want to be a father of a big family, our family, our Federation. The future is us, let’s build it together!” The Elective Assembly decreed, in addition to the office of president, those of the Federal Councilors, who are: Paola Giulianelli (technicians’ quota), Rebecca Tarlazzi and Marco Viotto (athletes’ quota) Maria Cristina Blanzieri, Maurizio Breschi, Massimo Calviati, Piera Marika Kullmann (later elected vice president), Laura Francesca Lombardo, Maria Perai, Francesco Zangarini, and the president of the Board of Auditors, in the figure of Luca Sbordoni. “The past quadrennium (2021-24) started out great,” Aracu stressed, “with the investment made with the Italian Roller Games, all the way to Olympic skateboarding and the qualifiers for Paris 2024. And then not to underestimate the Roller Day in more than 130 Italian squares with so many young people who filled and colored the cities of our country with skates. A beautiful path characterized by many stages that have always been under the banner of our urban vocation. Italy is the world’s laboratory for sports, not only for roller sports.” Many projects have been carried out by the Skate Italia Federation in recent years, such as the various initiatives for the regeneration and recovery of urban contexts, through the development of facilities for sports and aggregation, including the skatepark in Ostia and the one in Colle Oppio, which have given back vital spaces to the city of Rome and have traced a path followed by other federations as well. “In this four-year period we have invested for the future,” President Sabatino Aracu closed, “with our crowning achievement being the World Skate Games Italia 2024. 154 titles up for grabs. The only Federation in the world that delivers so many titles. A competition dedicated to young people. A great event like few in Italy and the only one that closed in the black. From the Sport and Health study, we are among the top 10 Italian federations for media impact.”
