ROME (ITALPRESS) – The relationship between the environment and energy, the continuing rise in tariffs at the expense of citizens and businesses, and the problems for small and medium-sized enterprises in the energy sector: these were the topics at the center of the annual meeting of the Association of Energy Resellers and Traders (ARTE), which brought together representatives of businesses and institutions in Rome, with welcoming messages from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin.
“We want the transition to be a pathway done in a sustainable way, and for that, there has to be affordability for households and businesses that are discounting prices that are absolutely not good. Then we absolutely have to work on energy security,” said Diego Pellegrino, ARTE spokesman.
“We have managed to bring together from Italy 600 operators from the energy world,” he continued. “Right now we are all paying attention to the word transition that is talked about so much, we are trying to be extremely realistic and then to make it clear where, in our opinion, there are problems. What Europe is asking of us today means tripling the consumption of our homes: we have to invest, the path is very long. Gas will be with us in this transition for a long time to come, so we are asking for great pragmatism.”
The chairman of the House Finance Committee, Alberto Gusmeroli, recalled the recent intervention of the government, which, with the Bills Decree, has put in place “3 billion, of which 1.6 in favor of families and 1.4 in favor of businesses. The amendment phase in Parliament is underway and we will see if it will be possible to try to help even more the world of small and medium-sized enterprises, which is the founding structure of the Italian economy.”
For the president of ARERA (Regulatory Authority for Energy Networks and Environment), Stefano Besseghini, the Bills Decree “intervenes in giving an opportune signal of attention to families” and businesses, “even the smallest ones,” but “it is a transitional element, also linked to the contingency: I believe it is worth continuing the work that is being done to strengthen the system, to make it more resilient, able above all to take advantage of those opportunities for cost reductions that we hope to see in the near future.”
For the president of the Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE), Paolo Arrigoni, it is necessary “to invest in renewables and energy efficiency, because the best renewable energy is precisely that which is not consumed The GSE is greatly enhancing assistance support to businesses, central and local public administrations, but also to the individual citizen to help him or her ground, benefiting from incentives, projects and to be a protagonist in the energy transition, but above all to reduce the burden of their bills.”
