ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Andrological Health of Young People comes out of taboos and enters schools and Houses of the Community. The ASL Roma 1 launches an innovative screening and prevention project aimed at children of the last year of high school, to early intercept pathologies such as varicocele (which affects 10-20% of young people) and promote correct lifestyles. At the launch meeting of the project, in the Salone del Commendatore della Azienda Sanitaria Capitolina, were present, for the Rotary Club of Rome, partner of the initiative, Professor Giovanni Spera, President of the Rotary Club of Rome Maddalena De Gregorio and President Elected Mario Sakamoto. Significant is the intervention of Daniela Tranquilli, Past Governor of District 2080 of Rotary, already promoter of districts of Andalusian and gynecological prevention, which illustrated the conditions and state of the art of prevention in schools. Civita Di Russo, deputy head of Gabinetto Vicario Region Lazio, stressed that “prevention is a pillar of our regional health strategy and this project represents an example of excellence, because it intercepts a delicate age group like that of the 18. Investing today in the reproductive health of young people means not only protecting their future well-being, but also reducing the burden of chronic or conclaimed diseases in adulthood. We strongly support these initiatives that see the Houses of the Community become real proximity centers for citizens, guaranteeing clear, free and accessible treatment paths to all.” Natalia Barbato, collaborator of the School Manager and Referent of the Technology-Economic Pole of the IIS Tommaso Salvini, who will host and coordinate the school integration of the pilot project, involving the first 100 children of the IIS. “With this project we lower the barriers between hospital and citizen, intercepting the children just when they become adults – said Giuseppe Quintavalle, Director Andrological prevention is often overlooked by women, but data tells us that intervention at 18 years can drastically change the quality of future reproductive life. The ASL Roma 1 is not limited to informing, but bears the health of young people through certain and free clinical paths.” Under the scientific direction of Marco Martini (Director UOC Urology) and the coordination of the project manager, Mattia Marte, the initiative provides for a training phase followed by an operation. Children will have access to free clinical screening at the nearest Community House. In case of need for instrumental investigations, young people will be immediately taken into account by the specialist structures of ASL Roma 1. Infertility involves a person out of six in the world today (WHO). As evidenced by scientific literature, the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and environmental damages on the reproductive system, in addition to the early diagnosis of testicular pathologies such as varicocele, crypttorchydism, phymosis and other abnormalities, if performed in peri – puberal age, allow to correct and cure the main causes of male infertility of adulthood, positively intervening on the complex mechanism of spermatogenesis.
