Asp Messina, chronic disease awareness day

MESSINA (ITALPRESS) – “The Messina Health Authority reiterates the importance of primary prevention and information, key elements for community health. It thanks all those who participated and collaborated in this initiative, which is fundamental for the well-being of the citizenry.” This was said by Maria Gabriella Caruso, director of the Health Authority’s Department of Medical Prevention today in Cairoli Square in Messina, where doctors were present to inform and raise awareness about proper lifestyles and identify risk factors associated with chronic degenerative diseases. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., health professionals offered information and vaccination services, thus contributing to public health promotion. During the initiative, a field clinic was activated and provided: papilloma virus vaccination, which is essential for the prevention of genital and oropharyngeal cancer, and flu vaccination. This event was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the City of Messina, Messina Social City, the Italian Red Cross, the “G. Martino” University Hospital and the Aosta Brigade. Director of the Epidemiological Prevention and Preventive Medicine Service of the Asp of Messina Salvatore Sidoti remarked, “Events like today’s are crucial to raise awareness of prevention and health issues. Vaccination is a fundamental tool to protect the community and reduce the risk of disease. I thank all those who participated and contributed to this important initiative. “Today’s initiative,” Dr. Caruso said again, “represents a fundamental step toward raising community awareness about health and prevention. It is important that citizens take care of their own well-being and actively participate in these information and vaccination campaigns. The City of Messina always stands by the Health Authority to promote the health of our fellow citizens.”
