EMPOLI (ITALPRESS) – A spell by Che Adams from midfield gives Torino three crucial points. In the advance match that opened the 16th day of the Italian top league, Paolo Vanoli’s boys routed Empoli’s Castellani and returned to victory after picking up two points in their last six matches. With this success the granata reach in the standings precisely the Tuscans on 19 points and take a breath of fresh air. The first fifteen minutes are of study with the two teams not hurting each other, then Empoli takes over the game and creates chances: at 15′ Gyasi tries a shot, but comes a great closure of Coco. On the development of a corner kick Ismajli scores the 1-0 goal, but referee Bonacina, on his Serie A debut, cancels for a charge against Milinkovic-Savic. At 17′ the first Toro flash with a shot by Sanabria that goes just wide. Halfway through the first half Empoli dominates: at 26′ Colombo turns and lets off a dangerous left-footer but Milinkovic-Savic saves for a corner kick. Around the half-hour mark, it is Torino that has the best chances: at 32′ Ricci hits a safe header, but Vasquez says no.
The Empolese extreme defender, four minutes later, makes an extraordinary save on a Sanabria header. On the development of a corner kick, Coco, all alone, misdirects the ball and devours the 0-1.
In the second half immediately two chances: at 47′ Colombo tries a conclusion but Milinkovic-Savic is careful and a minute later Linetty shoots high a good chance from the limit. At 54′ the biggest goal ball of the match: cross from the left, Gyasi is repelled and the ball reaches Cacace who, from five meters, sends the ball into the corner, devouring the goal of the lead. Vanoli halfway through the second half scrambles the attack: in Adams and Njie, out Sanabria and Karamoh, and the game changes. At 70′ Adams came up with the goal of the Sunday: just past the halfway line he blasted a perfect right-footed shot that mocked Vasquez, off the posts, and sent the Granata people wild with joy. The same Torino bomber, three minutes later, also comes close to scoring 0-2 with his shot lapping the post. In the final Empoli tried with little conviction and failed to find the breakthrough that would be worth the equalizer. Torino on the next day will face Bologna (Dec. 21, 3 p.m.) while Empoli will pay a visit to leading Atalanta (Dec. 22, 6 p.m.).
