PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – The international airport “Falcone Borsellino” in Palermo continues its path of growth as a strategic infrastructure for the mobility and economic development of the territory. The new multifunctional work area, located in the departure zone at the third level of the air station, passed security checks, near gate A18 and before the passport control area. The two areas are equipped with 20 individual workstations, two of which are accessible to people with disabilities and are designed to ensure comfort, functionality and connectivity to passengers waiting for boarding. Each station is equipped with electric sockets and Usb, charging points for mobile devices, ergonomic seats, dedicated Led lighting and enhanced wi-fi connection. These spaces are a further acceleration in the evolution of the airport as a modern hub that in recent months is making it more welcoming and fully oriented to the quality of the passenger experience. The initiative is part of the broadest strategy of Gesap, the management company of the airport, aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the airport through targeted investments in innovation, accessibility and strengthening of services.
“With the opening of the new work area and with the additional openings foreseen in the coming months, we are continuing with decision in the path of evolution of the airport – says Gianfranco Battisti, managing director of Gesap, the airport management company of Palermo – Thanks to the interventions put in the field, we have exceeded the threshold of 9,2 million passengers and we plan to approach us to the 10 million in the next year consolidating our position as strategic asset in the Mediterranean. Our goal is clear: to make the stopover increasingly competitive, sustainable and integrated with the territory. The infrastructure investment – concludes Gesap’s ad – is part of a systemic vision that looks not only to operational efficiency, but to the added value that we can generate for the entire regional ecosystem.”.
After the recent opening of the new P4 parking space adjacent to the airport, with 62 additional parking spaces, the development plan of the port of call previews the delivery of the new cargo area of about thousand square meters, operating from April, near the old aerostation; openings at the end of June of the First View Lounge of 400 square meters (Aviapartner) and the restaurant Planeta Amore (Autogrill, 380 square meters), in air side area; the extension of the parking P2, with 232 new stalls, whose realization will be completed by August. These interventions are incorporated into an integrated vision of airport development as a flywheel of connectivity, tourism and economic growth, fully consistent with Gesap’s statutory mission and the needs of an ever-changing airport system.
