ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Edoardo Carta ETS Foundation returns to Run Rome The Marathon with a great novelty: free screening of antibodies for diabetes and celiac disease for children and children up to 18 years old. The initiative will take place on the days of 21 and 22 March in the gazebo of the Foundation at the space dedicated to the Volunteers Fun Village of Run Rome the Marathon. The operation is made possible thanks to a network of partners: the Child Jesus Hospital, the multinational Revvity – active in the field of life sciences and diagnostics – and the CAST laboratory of the University of Chieti.
Revvity will provide sample collection cartons, while CAST will ensure its management and analysis. The volunteers of the Foundation will work on the field along with doctors and nurses of the Child Jesus. The Fimp Roma and Province will support the initiative through the pediatricians of free choice that will promote screening among families.
Screening is part of national law no. 130/2023 – the so-called Mulé Law – which provides for prevention campaigns in regions. While waiting for Lazio to operate the procedures provided for by the norm, the Foundation decided to anticipate the times, promoting the program independently within the sporting event. The marathon will run for the Foundation 34 staff: in addition to the historical friends of Edoardo Carta, will participate the group of Vatican Athletics, the Circolo Canottieri Roma, ATF ASD Athletics Training & Friends, the ANAD (National Association of Diabetic Athletes) of Pescara and the Sport&Smile Association.
