ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The consequences of globalization and its transformations, the future of the European Union and the need to complete its enlargement process are just some of the themes touched on in the evening hosted by the Serbian Embassy in Rome with Professor Giulio Tremonti, president of the Foreign Commission of the Chamber of Deputies. His book “Guerra o pace” was translated last year in Serbian language for Sluzbeni Glasnik, the publishing house of the Official Journal of the Republic of Serbia. “We are very pleased that the publication of the Serbian translation was the result of the collaboration between the most important publishing house in Serbia and the recognized publishing house Solferino. We hope that this cooperation will continue to develop in the future, further strengthening cultural and editorial links between our two countries,” said Serbian ambassador in Italy, Mirjana Jeremic, introducing the guest. “I had personally the pleasure of reading this book last year, in a single breath, and I allow myself to strongly recommend it to you too. In particular, I would like to emphasize the passage concerning the importance of the Balkans for the future of the European Union, a matter of particular importance for Serbia. The statement that ‘the future of the European Union is decided not only in Ukraine, but also in the Balkans’ highlights the geopolitical relevance of the region and the need to address open issues within the European framework’ continued Jeremic. The conversation was moderated by Alessandro Amorese of the Culture Commission at the Chamber of Deputies.
Federico Mollicone, President of the Committee on Culture of the Chamber of Deputies, spoke with a video message. Professor Tremonti has analyzed concepts such as “mercatism” and transformations in place globally, tracing the probable routes of the protagonists of the international scene, and recalling the “node of Gordio”, that is the comparison between the West and Asia. In all this, “enlargement is fundamental for Europe”, according to Tremonti. “All-in is the perspective for Europe,” said the President of the Foreign Commission of the Chamber of Deputies. A Europe that must look to the future even with less bureaucracy, in a world “which remains global in trades, on the internet network”, but which sees “the ideology of globalization at the terminal stage”.
TREMONTI “MOLTE GUERRE IN ATTO POSSONO TERMINARE”
Many of the ongoing wars “can end” and Europe must continue without hesitation in its enlargement process, said Tremonti in the margin of the meeting, to the microphones of the agency Italpress. “There is written ‘War or peace’ and the book closes by saying ‘peace’. Peace can be between America, Europe and Asia, and many of the ongoing wars can end,” he said. Regarding the EU enlargement process, Tremonti pointed out that “the European Treaty says that all European states can enter the EU, such as Serbia for example. It is essential that Serbia enters the European Union.”.
