WASHINGTON (USA) (ITALPRESS) – The Italian embassy in the United States, in collaboration with the American Italian Food Coalition (AIFC) and the Italian Cultural Society (ICS), hosted the annual Easter egg hunt for the benefit of the Center for the Advancement of Innovative Health Practices. The Centre is the non-profit institution of the Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative (CAHMI) in Baltimore, Maryland, which promotes child, youth and family health through measurements, data and tools focused on the family. Hosted by Italian ambassador Marco Peronaci in Villa Firenze, the event has seen the participation of almost 400 people, including over 200 children accompanied by their parents, to celebrate the Italian cultural heritage and promote child health and medical research. This year’s egg hunt, now in its fifth consecutive edition, raised nearly $30,000 in donations to the Center for the Advancement of Innovative Health Practices, bringing the total amount collected for the organization in five years to $120,000.
“This event has become a wonderful tradition in Villa Firenze. It brings together families, friends and partners to celebrate the age of childhood while supporting research that helps children and families live a healthier life. It is a wonderful example of how the Italian-American community and our partners can join to make a difference,” said Ambassador Peronaci. The presidents of AIFC, Susan Molinari and Lucy Calautti, underlined: “On behalf of our more than 500 associate companies, we are honored to support child health research while celebrating the strong partnership between the United States and Italy. As we have seen with this event, good food unites people and countries. We trust to continue dialogue with our friends on both sides of the Atlantic to ensure that high quality Italian products are accessible to American consumers.” Before the start of the event, Ambassador Peronaci gave the Order of the Italian Star to Lucy Calautti and Susan Molinari, recognizing their outstanding commitment to the promotion of authentic Italian food and wine traditions in the United States.
Through their leadership in the leadership of the American Italian Food Coalition, Calautti and Molinari contributed to raising public awareness about the cultural and economic value of genuine Italian food products, strengthening the links between Italy and the Italian-American community. “I am honored that the Italian Cultural Society is part of this initiative. The values of the family, human relations and care for children are at the centre of Italian culture. Through our mission to promote Italian language and culture, we strive to unite people and this event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate these values by strengthening the link between Italians and Americans”, said Francesca Casazza, executive director and CEO of the Italian Cultural Society.
