Atalanta-Celtic ends without goals

BERGAMO (ITALPRESS) – A tough, tough game with many chances but no goals. The challenge between Atalanta and Celtic ended at 0-0, useless the final effort by the Bergamasks, in the end only a point came. To decide whether it will be a point gained or two wasted will be the future, in the maxi ranking anything can happen. High tempo and rain, basically a typical late afternoon of Scottish soccer. Atalanta, however, did not back down, quite the contrary: Gasperini’s team – with Pasalic in the three-quarter and De Ketelaere ready to take over – immediately pressed on the accelerator, crushing Rodgers’ men in their own half. The sharpest chance came on the Croatian’s header, which ended on the crossbar, but throughout the first 45′ there was no shortage of opportunities: Zappacosta and Retegui tried to exploit insertions, but the Scottish defense repelled every assault. The leitmotif in the second half was pretty much the same, with the hosts constantly on the attack: after a quarter of an hour Gasperini also inserted Samardzic and De Ketelaere in place of Bellanova and Retegui (still dry in the Champions League). The music did not change, the Scots held up well nullifying any source of play and going on to repel virtually every cross. Even the changes did not have the desired effect, the Dea as the minutes passed inevitably decreased its intensity. In the final minutes Hien, who remained in the attack, also tried, but the Swedish central’s header ended up on the bottom. To be heard, at the end of the match, all the Celtic crowd (more than 1,300 fans), applause also from the Atalanta side, the final ending of a tough match, but without goals.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
