MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Art becomes increasingly a real asset class in wealth consulting and no longer an accessory service for private banking. This is what emerged during the talk “The time of art: market speed vs time of culture”, organized by Banca Generali to close the initiatives dedicated to Milan Art Week 2026.
According to what was highlighted during the meeting, the role of Art Advisory is growing in Italy, where investment in works and collectible assets already involves 20% of private households, while the global art market exceeds $2,500 billion and could reach 3,500 billion by 2030. In the course of the comparison the need for a long-term vision in the management of artistic investments, with services ranging from consultancy for the sale of works to independent evaluations, to the insurance, logistic and conservation aspects.
“The art market itself is not necessarily fast, indeed, I would say that it is going through a phase in which times are slightly dilating, becoming perhaps more reflective, more cautious – said Vincenzo De Bellis, Chief Artistic Officer, Global Director of Art Basel Fairs -. What we perceive as ‘speed’ is often a feature of the system: the way in which the fairs, institutions, galleries and all the actors involved are called to operate. There is a constant demand for reactivity, continuous presence, production and rapid circulation of content and works. Perhaps we need to find a dimension of continuity and depth. We are all called to find a balance between efficiency and persistence, between immediacy and construction of sense”.
“We are very happy with the response and attention collected during this edition of Milan Art Week,” comments Andrea Ragaini, Deputy Director General of Banca Generali. “For eight years we have chosen to support the project of the Municipality, which we thank for the availability and commitment, which aims to bring the creativity and stimulus of these extraordinary contemporary artists not only to the public of fans, but also to a wider audience curious to grasp trends and ideas from international confrontation. The talk we organized at the end of the week aims precisely to open a window on the apparent dystonia between the sudden speed of demand and the times required by the reflection of the works themselves. Very interesting paradigms that also approach considerations in our work. We believe, in fact, that art is not only cultural expression, but also an extraordinary instrument of reflection on the value, time and responsibility of those who are called to preserve and grow a heritage. In this sense, Milan Art Week represents for us a natural place of comparison with a careful, curious and conscious community, perfectly aligned with the values that inspire our way of making bank”.
On the occasion of the Milan Art Week, Banca Generali also opened the BG Art Gallery, in the headquarters of Palazzo Pusterla, recording over 1,000 visitors during the week.
