VENICE (ITALPRESS) – To synergy between clinical excellence, local institutions and banking patronage to fight the main cause of mortality in the world: the ischemic cardiopathy. This is the goal of “Primavera del Cuore”, the project of free cardiovascular screening aimed at the population of the Venetian metropolitan area.
Designed and conducted by Fausto Rigo, an expert cardiologist at the Mestre Medical Center, in collaboration with Banca Ifis, “Primavera del Cuore” aims to promptly identify silent coronary pathology in seemingly healthy subjects and save human lives. The project is promoted and entirely supported economically by Banca Ifis and sees as an operational and scientific partner Mestre Medical Center. “Primavera del Cuore” was presented today during a press conference held at the headquarters of Banca Ifis in Mestre, in the presence of Dr Rigo, Ernesto Fùrstenberg Fassio (President of Banca Ifis) and Simone Venturini (Assessore Coesione Sociale di Venezia).
“It’s an innovative project dedicated to over 50, well-balanced that includes multiparametric blood tests and an extensive cardiological visit with particular attention to arteriosclerosis – Rigo commented. In case of further information there will be a patient’s grip and the delivery of a contact also available from the Health Paper. It is also important to address young people and women who share the risk with men of 50% on this pathology from epidemiological surveys. For an excellent success of such a project it will be necessary and desirable the participation of all the subjects of the territory, starting from the basic doctors, the Associations of category and the Institutions that can become Ambassador of the project”.
“We have been working for several years to support scientific prevention and screening initiatives, in the belief that health, in particular cardiovascular health, is mainly intervening in advance – said Fùrstenberg Fassio. Our goal is to contribute to a more efficient model, in which the public sector can focus on emergency management, while prevention is increasingly supported by private actors. In this sense, like Banca Ifis, through our Social Impact Lab Kaleidos, we support research and projects that help to free time, resources and spaces within hospital facilities, improving the organization of routes and the overall effectiveness of the system. It is a commitment that is fully part of our vision of social responsibility: from 2022 to today we have invested more than 10 million euros in research projects and inclusion initiatives on the territory, with the desire to continue to generate a concrete and lasting impact for communities.”
Rigo, internationally renowned cardiologist and Principal Investigator, will lead an equipe of cardiologist specialists of Center of Medicine. Screening will be supported by the Group Analysis Laboratory for preliminary biochemical evaluations. The evaluation will be avant-garde: in addition to the visit and ECG, pericardial visceral fat, calcium score, carotid status and, through advanced echocardiography, coronary flux and heart deformation (GLS).
Thanks to the radiodiagnostic excellence of which is equipped the headquarters of Mestre of Center of Medicine, with two high-field RMs and a Tc, all equipment equipped with artificial intelligence, in addition to the presence of qualified medical skills, it will be possible to carry out any examinations in depth in those subjects that will result have suspicious parameters for the presence of coronary alterations still silent, in agreement and in synergy with the medicine of the territory (medical general). The project sets itself a further objective, in addition to thatthe ambitious to safeguard those patients at risk but unaware, that is to help “reclassify” the risk of heart attack in the resident population, women and men, citizens between 50 and 70 years.
Eligible citizens will participate in the project “Primavera del Cuore” voluntarily and free of charge. The target is the population of the metropolitan area of Venice Mestre (extended to the nearby province of Treviso) with the following requirements: age between 50 and 70, asymptomatic subjects and apparent good health. People with familiarity with heart disease and at least one risk factor (LDL > 130 cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension or smoke), or subjects without familiarity but with at least two risk factors.
The performance is completely free as supported by Banca Ifis. The data collected, analysed with the help of Artificial Intelligence, will help validate a new risk layering algorithm worldwide. The heart of the project is the collaboration with territorial medicine. Organizers appeal to the Order of Doctors and Doctors of General Medicine (MMG): “You are the first contact point with the patient – said Rigo. We invite you to become ambassadors of the project, reporting those asymptomatic subjects that present familiarity or risk factors. Together we can offer them a free second-level assessment that normal algorithms are unable to intercept.”
Screening will begin in April 2026 and will continue throughout the year until spring 2027. Persons with the requirements (asymptomatics, resident in the metropolitan area of Venice-Mestre and neighbouring Treviso) may apply voluntarily. Moreover, they can also do this on the occasion of the stages of the “Tour of Prevention” in the metropolitan area that will be held in Mestre, Marcon, Mirano, Mogliano Veneto and Preganziol.
The “Tour of Prevention” is an initiative of Center of Medicine, born with the aim of transforming health from abstract concept to everyday practice.
