ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Trapani excluded from the A series of basketball 2025-26. This is the decision taken by the national Sportivo judge in light of what happened in the Saturday race between the Sicilians and Trento and taken note both of the report of the race drafted by the deputy federal attorney and of the previous waiver from the club to the match against the Virtus Bologna.
The judge, therefore, reads in the device, “disposes the exclusion of Trapani Shark from the participation in the Serie A Championship for the present sports season 2025-2026, preserving the right to enroll in the Senior Championships to free participation; cancels all the matches played here by Trapani Shark; apply the penalty of the fine of 600,000 euros, equal to twelve times that for the first waiver; apply to the legal representative pro tempore, Valerio Antonini, the penalty of inhibition for three months; has the transmission of the acts to the Weaving Office for the release of senior athletes and to the National Training Committee for the annulment of CNA cards; it has the transmission of the acts to the Federal Prosecutor for any investigations of competence”.

“Total unity of intent in safeguarding the image and reputation of basketball” between Federbasket and Lega for whom “every form of attack on the dignity and reputation of basketball sports will be countered at every competent venue in the most rigorous way to protect the regularity of Serie A championship, all companies, members and fans.” It is what we read in a joint note of Fip and Lba on the Trapani case, subject to examination at today’s meeting in the federal headquarters.
“The world of basketball cannot accept that affiliated subjects and top representatives of prestigious clubs, expression of important squares such as Trapani, jeopardize the credibility of a healthy movement that gives prestige to our sport in the internal and international sphere – we read in the note – Fair play, competitive parity, loyalty, fairness and probity represent fundamental values, both for the Fip and for the Lba, irresponsible event in participation in the sport component Acts, decisions, declarations and positions free of charge aimed at destabilization, unmotivated and unfounded, of our sports organizations put themselves in bloody contrast with the mission both of Fip and of the LBA and are firmly condemned.”.

In light of the exclusion of Trapani and the cancellation of the races played by the Sicilians, the Serie A ranking is changed and the picture of the teams qualified to the Italian Cup Final Eight is completed: at Germani Brescia, Virtus Olidata Bologna, Umana Reyer Venezia, EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, Bertram Derthona Tortona and Pallacanestro Trieste joins APU Old Wild West Udine and Guerri Napoli.
