Bologna’s Champions’ league sweep, Lazio collapses

BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS) – Bologna celebrates and treats itself to a great afternoon by smashing a resounding “manita” against Lazio: 5-0 the final result of the match at the Dall’Ara, with no right of reply. Italiano’s men rise, at least momentarily, to fourth place, waiting for Fiorentina-Juventus. The Capitolini, bypassed precisely by Bologna, drop to sixth place. The Felsini coach confirms the eleven that beat Verona last week, with the only change being the return of Freuler from disqualification. Baroni, however, has to do without Tavares, who stops in the warm-up: in his place Marusic.

Bologna’s sparkling start with Castro, then it is Lazio that tries to take the initiative with spurts from Dia and Lazzari. The result was unblocked at 16′: Miranda’s cross for Odgaard’s insertion, who evaded Gila’s marking and slotted the ball into the net. Lazio tried to rebuild their game but could not find space for a shot. Something that instead succeeds for Orsolini, who with a shot aimed directly at the crossbar engages Provedel.

The complicated afternoon turned into a nightmare for Lazio at the start of the second half. In 48′ Ndoye read the movement of Orsolini, who was completely lost in the marking by Marusic, with the number 7 beating Provedel with a dig. They restarted but Guendouzi fell asleep and set off Bologna’s counter-attack with Ferguson, who from the flank put in a back ball on which Ndoye arrived: 3-0. Ten minutes later, Zaccagni, the only positive note in a match to forget for Lazio, goes on his own and from outside hits the post. On 74′ Pobega steals the ball from Gila and puts it in the middle for Castro, who wins the clash with Romagnoli and joins the scorers’ table.

There is still room for the fifth goal: Bologna makes academy with touches of first, Miranda signs the second assist of the day by serving Fabbian, who heads the ball into the box. The Rossoblù center their fourth consecutive victory and now really dream of confirmation in the Champions League, while Lazio, unrecognizable and probably also fatigued by their European commitments, stops after six consecutive useful results.
