Bosch launches software that warns of tire problems in advance

STOCKHOLD (GERMANY) (ITALPRESS) – Not everyone thinks about it, but tires are essential to road safety. Loss of tire pressure or loose tires can lead to breakdowns and potentially dangerous situations. The use of systems that detect tire conditions and warn the driver in a timely manner can help prevent these types of dangerous situations. Currently, the market offers several technologies that can monitor tire conditions. Monitoring can be done directly, through additional sensors installed in the tires, or via software, by analyzing vehicle behavior. Bosch is expanding its range of tire condition monitoring software solutions and will offer them as part of its data-driven service within the Bosch Vehicle Motion Management ecosystem, a software system solution dedicated to vehicle motion. To this end, Bosch is working with a number of partners. In the area of indirect systems that do not require additional sensors in tires, Bosch is strengthening its long-standing relationship with automotive supplier NIRA Dynamics. Paying special attention to gradual pressure loss and wheel slack detection, it leverages the expertise of both companies to offer accurate and affordable solutions.Data-based Tire Solutions is an innovative data-driven service consisting of algorithms that continuously monitor tire conditions and promptly warn drivers of gradual pressure loss or wheel bolt slack. “With Data-based Tire Solutions, we offer our customers a vehicle motion management software solution that covers all the key factors of tire health to prevent potential failures,” said Stephan Staß, member of the management of Bosch’s Vehicle Motion division. Bosch’s data-driven tire monitoring system continuously monitors each tire and uses a user-friendly interface to alert the driver of gradual pressure loss and the presence of loose tires. One of the new algorithms in the Data-based Tire Solutions software can detect even small, gradual losses in tire pressure. As soon as the tire pressure value deviates by about 5 percent from the target value, the driver is immediately informed. Once the tire pressure is restored, the system can be easily reset using the “Easy Reset” function. Another algorithm warns of wheel loosening as soon as the bolts lose tightness by as little as half a millimeter, an event that less experienced drivers are unlikely to detect. In addition to providing appropriate and timely warnings, the system also recommends specific interventions. In this way, Bosch’s data-driven tire monitoring solutions help prevent failures and improve the safety of every journey.
