Brignone returns to Cup and wins Sestriere giant slalom

SESTRIERE (ITALPRESS) – Federica Brignone wins the women’s giant slalom in Sestriere, valid for the 2024/2025 Alpine Ski World Cup. The Valle d’Aosta native is the protagonist of a great second run and crosses the finish line in 2’12″69 with a four-tenths margin over Alice Robinson. Nothing to do for the New Zealander, who fails to confirm the best time of the first run, which ended just ahead of the fresh rainbow winner between the wide poles. Abysmal gaps with Norway’s Thea Louise Stjernesund third at 1″57. Zrinka Ljutic at the foot of the podium, fourth at 1″85. Sara Hector fifth at 1″97 ahead of Paula Moltzan, sixth at 2″01 and off the podium due to a mistake in the last sector. Two positions recovered by Lara Colturi, who is seventh at 2″21. Sofia Goggia is 13th at 2″85. Further back is Marta Bassino, 18th at 3″96. Also in the points is Asja Zenere, 23rd at 4″54.- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
