SAALBACH (AUSTRIA) (ITALPRESS) – Silver medal for Federica Brignone in the super-giant in Saalbach, valid for the Alpine Ski World Cup 2025. The Aosta Valley native born in 1990 sees her second world gold medal slip away after her combined gold in Courchevel/Meribel 2023 by just 10 hundredths. Host Stephanie Venier surprisingly wins in 1’20″47. Bronze ex aequo with USA’s Lauren Macuba and Norway’s Kajsa Vichoff Lie on the lowest step of the podium with the same time (+0″24). A few blunders for Sofia Goggia, who finished fifth at 0″30 from Venier. Three Italians in the top ten with Elena Curtoni ninth at 0″76. Marta Bassino fails to defend the gold from two years ago and is 16th at 1″63, Laura Pirovano 18th at 1″72. Fall after a few gates for Lindsey Vonn. Also out were Ricarda Haaser, Valerie Grenier, Maryna Gasienica-Daniel, Marte Monsen and Giselle Gorringe. For Italy this is the second medal in this rainbow event after the gold won in the mixed parallel team event.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
