MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Terna, the national electricity grid operator, is participating in “Tech-Tour,” an initiative promoted by Assolombarda on the occasion of the “National STEM Week. “As part of the project, the company led by Giuseppina Di Foggia organized, on the occasion of Technology Day, an educational meeting intended for fourth-year students of the “Teuliè” Military School in Milan, with the aim of bringing girls and boys closer to the issues of innovation, technology and energy and digital transition.During the day, the students had the opportunity to visit Terna’s Electricity Station in Brugherio (Monza Brianza) and learn more about maintenance, monitoring and grid renewal activities. In addition, a talk on Terna’s role in the energy transition and an experiential workshop involving the use of virtual reality to simulate climbing a pylon and an educational game on the electricity sector were held at the company’s Pero office of the Northern Transmission Department.Simulating climbing an electrical support with virtual reality is a project developed by Terna and is used to supplement traditional training. With the help of a visor and two controllers, technicians simulate the ascent on the support and replace some electrical components.An activity that provides a first idea of the techniques and procedures of work in a protected context.Assolombarda’s initiative “represents a unique opportunity for young people to explore the world of STEM professions and understand the skills required by the labor market, fostering an informed orientation towards the careers of the future. The program involves more than 1,200 students from 24 high schools in the provinces of Milan, Monza and Brianza, Pavia and Lodi,” the note reads. “This activity is part of a broader project by Terna that includes several initiatives designed to foster the development of young people’s skills, providing them with the tools they need to plan their professional future.This also includes the PCTO project, Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation, established by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, and formerly known as “Alternanza Scuola-Lavoro”: a training program offered by Terna to foster dialogue between the company and the school.
