BTM 2026, Santanchè “Sud asset fundamental for tourism and industry growth”

BARI (ITALPRESS) – “BTM is a beautiful fair, which is growing more and more, as Italian tourism is growing: the first data tells us about a 2026 increase, also thanks to the impact of the Winter Olympics, and a greater attraction of the months of shoulder. The South, which in January makes a +3% in the tourist presences, and Puglia, which in 2025 was the Southern Region with the highest rate of growth of arrivals and overnight stays, are an integral part of this success. And tourism is one of the main assets of the industrial growth of the Mezzogiorno, which in recent years has recorded data higher than the Italian average, and this I think is another great goal marked by the Meloni Government”. These are the words of the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè at the inaugural panel of the XII edition of BTM Italia – Business Tourism Management, the tourism exhibition supported by the Puglia Region and Pugliapromotion.

“But Puglia must also be able to look beyond the seaside tourism – he continued -. It has to promote more the lesser known territories, work on quality, and promote seasonal adjustment policies. It must understand, we must understand together with the regional council member with whom there is a great relationship, where to invest for the next five years. There are many types of tourism and we must aim to diversify the offer. In this perspective, the Mediterranean Games will be a great opportunity, both for Taranto and for Puglia and for all Italy: an extraordinary occasion of economic, tourist and territorial development, that will give us a new possibility, after the success of Milan Cortina, to show to the world our value”.
