Buonfiglio re-elected Fick president “Proud of this federation”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Continuing in the vein of continuity to advance sporting and social goals. This is the pivot of the program of Luciano Buonfiglio, who was re-elected president of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation for the sixth consecutive term at the assembly held at the Sala della Scherma at the Casa delle Armi at the Foro Italico. A concept also reiterated in his first words after re-election, when at the assembly, which awarded him 71.97 percent of the vote, he said, “Congratulations to all of you for choosing the safe used.” Buonfiglio beat off competition from Ottaviano Gueli (1,152 votes, 25.87 percent), Daniele Scarpa (49 votes, 1.10 percent) and Andrea Argiolas (14 votes, 0.31 percent), while there were 33 blank ballots.Canoeing and kayaking is a growing movement, as evidenced by the move from 8,000 members in 2008 to more than 19,000 in 2023, with 294 affiliated clubs. “We are an economically sound federation,” Buonfiglio added, recalling that Fick’s operating costs between 2020 and 2023 dropped by 6.5 percent, while the budget went up by 700,000 euros. “Never before have I been so proud of my Federation, because such a wide participation is a symptom of passion, enthusiasm, and a desire to improve,” Buonfiglio continued after being re-elected. “Society is always at the center of our initiatives, not only to win Olympic medals, but also to win social medals such as inclusion, the environment, and fragile categories, and we will continue on this path. For the first time we have entered schools, and we will improve.” Also present at the assembly were Gabriele Casadei and Carlo Tacchini, silver medalist in the C2 500 at the Paris 2024 Olympics: “It was a great emotion, now we have another four-year term ahead of us. Continuing to work like this, we will take great satisfaction,” their words. “I thank the Federation, this year I have achieved a great result thanks also to those who work with me on the field. I am sure there will be great emotions in the future as well,” is instead the video message of Giovanni De Gennaro, gold in K1 Slalom in Paris and currently in China for the Super Cup.- photo Fick press office -(ITALPRESS).
