ROME (ITALPRESS) – Fifty years of Agesci, the Italian Catholic Guides and Scouts association, recounted in the volume “Per strade battute,” published by the Fiordaloso publishing house, presented in Campidoglio. “I have been linked to the reality of Agesci since I had the ‘honor of leading the Red Cross,” said the president of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca “Agesci is committed to the profound change of society, especially through strong values and sense of responsibility, Agesci is there and always has been, I am grateful to you for carrying out your educational mission, today we have impressive numbers of young people withdrawing from social life, almost as if they had lost hope, the ability to intercept them becomes important, we need to rethink educational models, young people are the present and therefore protagonists.”
Two hundred eighty pages recounting the history of the association, also devoting ample space to the founding themes for the association, as well as to the National Route of Community Leaders, the celebratory event that saw 20,000 leaders from all over Italy in Verona last summer committed to questioning what it means to educate for happiness in our times. “I had the good fortune to have been a scout, for me it was an extraordinary path,” the words of the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri “an extraordinary place of education, growth, discovery through dialogue, inclusion, and ‘exploration of the world.
Francesco Scoppola, president of the Agesci National Committee, explained that “this text is the result of great dedication of so many people who collaborated in its realization, among the many themes we want to recall the prophetic choice of diarchy, since the birth of the association, that is, the presence of a man and a woman in all educational roles. A choice that was absolutely not taken for granted at the time of the association’s founding and that is still relevant today, at the same time visionary. The value of coeducation, in fact, not only sustains the action of the entire scout proposal making it still relevant and strong in the territories today but can also be a model of inspiration for other associative experiences. The 50th anniversary of Agesci is an important moment to remember on the one hand the primary value of education, and on the other hand the fact that the new generations today build signs of hope by defending the environment and promoting paths of active citizenship.”
