BYD extends the Blade Battery warranty at 8 years or 250,000 km

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – BYD has strengthened its commitment to its customers by extending the Blade Battery warranty to eight years or 250,000 km, applicable both to cars already in circulation and to new purchases. Blade Battery technology is at the heart of all BYD’s new energy vehicles – both 100% electric and Super Hybrid. These cars already include a basic guarantee of six years or 150,000 km, as well as a 12-year anti-corrosion guarantee with no mileage limit and cover for the electric traction unit of eight years or 150,000 km.

Now BYD has increased to 250,000 km the specific warranty mileage limit for the Blade Battery, maintaining its eight-year coverage and a 70% guaranteed minimum State of Health (SOH). Therefore, current owners of an electric BYD vehicle or with DM hybrid technology will automatically benefit from the coverage extension.

Designed to overcome the limits of traditional batteries thanks to a revolutionary structure, the Blade Battery combines innovative design, high-strength materials and advanced energy management systems. The result is a unique balance between safety, efficiency and durability.

Blade Battery uses iron-phosphate lithium chemistry (LFP), a technology that provides greater safety, durability and sustainability, eliminating dependence on precious materials such as nickel and cobalt and reducing environmental impact.

After intensive load and resistance tests, the Blade Battery has proven to exceed 3,000 charging and discharge cycles, with a useful life equivalent to 1.2 million kilometers.
It obtained exceptional results in extreme safety ratings, such as the nail penetration test, during which the surface temperature remains below 60°C:10 times lower than that of a conventional battery.

It has also demonstrated an extraordinary resistance in overload tests of up to 260% and in furnace tests at temperatures above 300°C, as well as crushing tests, salt water immersion and falling from significant heights, largely exceeding international safety standards.

Blade-shaped design allows each cell to function as a transversal structural element, increasing overall torque rigidity and offering exceptional protection against shocks and deformations. Each cell, compact and lightweight, is integrated into a module that reduces by 50% the volume occupied compared to traditional batteries, allowing designers to maximize the interior space and optimize vehicle packaging.

Thanks to these innovations, the Blade Battery establishes a new standard in terms of safety, reliability and performance, offering self-esteem – such as the 570 km in the combined cycle for BYD Seal Design – or high charging speeds, such as those of BYD Sealion 7 Excellence AWD, which with a maximum charging power of 230 kW can pass from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
