MILAN (ITALPRESS) – BYD presents Sealion 7, the seventh 100% electric car launched in Europe and the fourth model in the Ocean Series. With an overall length of 4,830 mm and a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, a WLTP range of up to 502 km and outstanding performance (215 km/h top speed and a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.5 seconds). Sealion 7 is based on the state-of-the-art BYD e-Platform 3.0 architecture. Designed exclusively for electric vehicles, the e-Platform 3.0 is equipped with BYD’s revolutionary Blade battery that is already included in all models marketed in Europe. The Blade battery uses lithium-iron-phosphate technology for the cathode with higher levels of safety and durability than conventional lithium-ion batteries, as well as being 100 percent cobalt-free. Thanks to cell-to-body technology, the battery is directly in the structure of the vehicle, with the top cover of the battery pack also serving as the floor of the passenger compartment. Thanks to a number of high-tech solutions, such as double “V” magnets and an incredibly high fill rate of 92 percent with flat-wire winding, the Sealion 7’s rear motor can run at speeds of up to 23,000 rpm, making it the world’s fastest electric motor in series production. This state-of-the-art technology, which enables Sealion 7 to have snappy acceleration and a high top speed while using a single-speed transmission. Sealion 7’s engine produces 230 kW of maximum power and 380 Nm of maximum torque and plays a key role on both drive variants. It is the only engine in the rear-wheel-drive Comfort version of the Sealion 7, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 215 km/h.In the Design AWD and Excellence AWD versions, the 230 kW rear motor is joined by another 160 kW motor on the front axle to provide all-wheel drive and a combined maximum power output of 390 kW and 690 Nm of torque. Top speed for these variants is also 215 km/h, but the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes place in just 4.5 seconds. The new Sealion 7 is offered with two battery levels that, combined with the two power and traction options, will allow customers to choose between affordability, performance, and range. All versions of the Sealion 7 come standard with an 11 kW three-phase AC charging system and one for rapid DC charging. It’s easy to feel comfortable in Sealion 7. The steering wheel is adjustable in height and depth, and the driver’s seat is eight-way electrically adjustable and offers four-way adjustable lumbar support. The front seats also feature ventilation and heating as standard. In the rear, the backrests and upholstery have been optimized, as has the seatback angle to minimize fatigue on long trips. The trunk capacity of Sealion 7 is 520 liters with the rear seats in place, while folding them down increases the volume to 1,789 liters. The infotainment system is equipped with the latest BYD software with a revamped interface capable of displaying a full interactive three-dimensional depiction of the car. The Sealion 7 is packed with safety and driver assistance technologies. BYD’s DiPilot 10 system integrates a series of wave radar sensors and a multifunctional video system to help provide intelligent driver assistance, such as adaptive cruise control and Traffic Jam Assist, which works more naturally. Safety features in the cabin include 9 airbags, Isofix attachments on the rear outboard seats and front passenger seat. Child Presence Detection, pre-tensioned and height-adjustable front seat belts, pre-tensioned rear seat belts, child safety locks and e-call emergency call system. The more affordable Sealion 7, Comfort, features heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, BYD’s 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital dashboard, wireless charging for smartphones, two USB ports for front and two rear passengers, as well as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology that allows powering small appliances (up to 3.3 kW) such as a small refrigerator, courtesy lights or even a coffee maker. The Design trim adds 20-inch wheels (19 inches on Comfort), while on the Excellence version it adds a head-up display and Nappa leather seats instead of vegan leather. Four exterior colors are available: Atlantis Grey, Indigo Grey, Polar White and Space Black; and two interior colors: Black and Blue.
