BYD presents ATTO 2 DM-i, compact and highly technological SUV

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – “A technological jewel with which we enter a segment made up of families, second cars with space needs”. With these words Alessandro Grosso, Country Manager BYD & Denza Italia, describes the ATTO 2 DM-i, the newcomer of BYD presented today in Milan. It is a new compact SUV that brings in the segment a combination of advanced technology, efficiency, reduction of consumption and internal space. With Super Hybrid technology with Dual Mode, ATTO 2 DM-i introduces a different approach to mobility, focusing on technological innovation that allows to reduce daily usage costs. A few days after the official launch, BYD stands “in a very important health state. We are the most sought after brand on Google in the last quarter, we have a higher search share than other premium competitors. But especially BYD is synonymous with technology and value: 2.6% of January-February share, we are in the top 15 total energy and with over 16% of altitude we are first if we speak only of New Energy Vehicle (NEV)”. The car measures 4.330 mm in length, 1.830 mm in width and 1.675 mm in height, with a step of 2.620 mm, designed to maximise the interior space, at the top of the category, and maintain low overhangs. The trunk offers a capacity of 425 liters, which can reach up to 1.335 liters by lowering the rear seats. The front is characterized by full LED headlights and thin daylights, which give it a modern and attractive look. The bumper with sculpted lines and vertical air outlets contributes to improving aerodynamic efficiency, while the dynamic flanks and the “floating” roof emphasize the sporty character of the SUV. In the back, the “Chinese knot” lights stand out, combined with a horizontal light bar; the upper spoiler completes the profile with a call to the sporty style of the brand. Compared to the totally electric version, the ATTO 2 DM-i introduces a larger front grill, new decorative details in the bumper and a different layout of the rear logos, along with the new BYD badge placed at the center of the hatch. As explained by Davide Lanna, Head of Product BYD Italia, “there are two versions. The Active has a 7.8 kWh battery, a power of 122 kW, with an electric power of 40 km and a total autonomy of 930 km. In the Boost version we have a larger battery pack of 18 kWh up to 156 kW of power, 90 km of electricity and up to 1,000 km of total autonomy. Both have a 1,500 aspirator front drive motor.” The new ATTO 2 DM-i introduces in the compact SUV segment the Super Hybrid technology with DM-i (Dual Mode). The system combines high-efficiency electric motors, the Blade Battery and the 1.5 litre Xiaoyun thermal engine, which achieves thermal efficiency up to 43.04%. The system operates mainly in two modes: in the EV mode, the wheels are driven exclusively by the electric motor, allowing a silent and zero-emission drive; in the HEV hybrid mode, the thermal engine generates energy to recharge the battery and support the electric motor. When more power is required, the system automatically switches from serial operation to parallel mode, combining the action of the two engines. The result is a driving experience that for most of the time remains similar to that of an electric vehicle, up to 90 km of autonomy to zero emissions and combined average consumption of only 20 km with 1 liter. This technological architecture significantly reduces the overall cost of use, thanks to extremely low consumption and the possibility to use electricity for most everyday movements. With full charging and full fuel, the total range can reach up to 1,000 km. Performance is brilliant: with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 180 km/h. The ATTO 2 DM-i Active is equipped with a complete package of standard guide support systems available throughout the range. The equipment includes multiple airbags, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind angle detection, active lane maintenance and road signal recognition. The Boost version integrates more than the Active, the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, which allows you to power external devices up to 3.3 kW, turning the car into a real portable energy source. As for the interior, the Active version features an 8.8-inch digital instrumentation and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen with updated multimedia system and the new “Hi BYD” voice assistant, powered by AI. In the Boost version the equipment is enriched with panoramic glass roof, driver seat with electric adjustment and heated front seats, heated steering wheel, darkened rear windows and 50 W wireless charging for smartphones. The vehicle is covered by 6 years warranty on the vehicle and 8 years or 250,000 km on the battery, with a State of Health (SOH) guaranteed at least 70%.
