MILAN (ITALPRESS) – The BYD sedan Seal 6 DM-i and its wagon variant, the Seal 6 DM-i Touring, achieved the maximum score of five stars in the latest Euro NCAP tests: this rating further confirms the quality and safety of BYD models. The strictest independent European vehicle safety assessment is divided into four areas, and the Seal 6 DM-i has achieved excellent results in each of them. It has recorded a score of 92% in the protection of adult occupants, with the maximum in side impact tests with barrier and in the most severe side impact test with pole. It has reached 90% in the protection of occupants children, thanks to the maximum score in front offset and side impact tests with barrier. In the other two evaluation areas, dedicated to the protection of vulnerable road users and safety assistance systems, the SEAL 6 DM-i and SEAL 6 DM-i TOURING achieve 84% and 85% respectively.
Euro NCAP praises BYD’s guidance systems, defining them as “excellent”. The evaluation of the Seal 6 DM-i is the ninth maximum Euro NCAP score obtained by BYD since the brand debuted in the European passenger vehicle market in 2022. The most recent award follows a similar result for the DOLPHIN SURF, and is added to the five stars obtained by DOLPHIN, ATTO 3, SEAL U, SEAL U DM-i, TANG and SEALION7. All these cars are equipped with BYD Blade Battery, which uses iron and lithium phosphate (LFP) as a cathodic material: This ensures greater resistance to extreme temperatures, longer useful life and greater stability than traditional lithium-ion batteries. Moreover, it is a completely cobalt-free technology, for the benefit of sustainability.
On the hybrid plug-in version, as in the case of SEAL 6 DM-i and TOURING, BYD’s Super DM technology uses a custom version of the innovative Blade Battery: with a power capacity starting from 18.3 to 26.6 kWh, it reaches a range of up to 125km of fully electric journey.
The safety remains the key point: the Blade Battery has successfully passed the Nail Penetration Test (here the video), one of the most severe tests in the automotive sector, which simulates the consequences of a serious accident and the risks of thermal escape. Where many traditional batteries cease, Blade remains stable: He doesn’t fire, it doesn’t explode.
More space, more durability, more security. And all this is part of an integrated ecosystem that was born on e-Platform 3.0, BYD’s dedicated architecture for electric vehicles, designed to offer the most in terms of energy efficiency, digitization and protection.
On the conquest of the five stars Euro NCAP, Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, said: “It is part of our DNA, as a technological company, never compromise on safety. And the latest five-star rating of Euro NCAP is further proof of how this approach delivers excellent results to our customers. The buyers of SEAL 6 DM-i and SEAL 6 DM-i TOURING can be sure to buy not only an efficient and practical vehicle, with excellent electric autonomy and a combined journey of more than 1,500 km, but also a car that puts in the protection and security center, together with exciting technologies to use whenever you drive. It is another great example of how BYD makes these innovations accessible to consumers. ”
Introduced in Italian dealers in September, the SEAL 6 DM-i and the SEAL 6 DM-i TOURING bring Super Hybrid DM (Dual Mode) technology to the market of berlines and wagons. The SEAL 6 DM-i offers up to 105 km of fully electric autonomy and combined autonomy, with tank and full battery, more than 1,500 km. The SEAL 6 DM-i TOURING offers up to 1,535 liters of load capacity and can travel 100 km in electric mode, with a combined range up to 1,350 km. Both models are rich in state-of-the-art BYD technologies, including Vehicle-to-Load to power external devices, car access through NFC smartphones and touchscreen infotainment screens from 12.8 or 15.6 inch.
