Camorra, Belvedere fugitive captured in Colombia

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Overnight in Medellin, Colombia, Luigi Belvedere, a fugitive from justice since December 2020 and listed as a dangerous fugitive by the Ministry of the Interior, was captured, the recipient of a final detention order to serve a sentence of 18 years, 9 months and 20 days in prison, as well as an additional precautionary measure also for international drug trafficking.
The investigation, coordinated by the Naples District Prosecutor’s Office and conducted by the Mobile Squad of the Caserta Police Headquarters, the Naples SISCO and the SCO, making use of direct collaboration with Colombian investigative bodies and the operational support of EUROPOL, the DCSA and the Service for International Police Cooperation, made it possible to document the operations of Belvedere, a Caserta broker specializing in the illicit importation of cocaine, who acted as an intermediary between Colombian cartels and some clans of the Casalesi “camorristic cartel.”
In particular, his capture – which, moreover, saw the direct participation of State Police investigators on a mission in Colombian territory – matured in the context of articulated investigations that, also making use of information extrapolated from a well-known messaging system in collaboration with Europol, made it possible to ascertain his presence in Colombia where he was active in organizing drug shipments from South America to Europe.
