CARACAS (VENEZUELA) (ITALPRESS) – President of the Venezuelan Parliament, Jorge Rodriguez, announced in the coming hours the release of “a substantial number” of detained citizens, including foreigners. This is a “one-sided peace” gesture, according to Rodriguez, not agreed with other parties. The Spanish daily El Pais reports it. Rodriguez said that the total number of people will be known “in the next few hours” and thanked former Spanish president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, Brazilian president Lula Da Silva and the Qatari government for their mediation.

Meanwhile, U.S. Senate voted for a resolution that prevents President Donald Trump from carrying out further military actions in Venezuela without prior approval of Congress. The vote saw 52 senators in favour and 47 against, a result showing that even 5 Republican senators voted in favour of the measure. The text now passes to the House for approval.
