Casse wins Cup SuperG in Val Gardena

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Mattia Casse is a prophet at home. The Italian triumphed in the men’s SuperG in Val Gardena, valid for the Alpine Ski World Cup. The 34-year-old from Piedmont, of the Fiamme Oro, won the race held along the “mythical” Saslong stopping the stopwatch at 1:28.23. Second place went to the U.S. Jared Goldberg, just one hundredth behind Casse, followed by the Swiss Marco Odermatt, 43 hundredths behind the Italian. Tenth position for Italian “veteran” Dominik Paris, closely followed by teammate Pietro Zazzi. Further back the other Italians: 16th Nicolò Molteni, 30th Giovanni Franzoni, 35th Christof Innerhofer and 55th Florian Schieder. Finally, Max Perathoner and Benjamin Jacques Alliod did not complete the race.
For Casse it is the fourth podium in his World Cup career, coming after three third places. First success then for the Piedmontese. The Azzurri had not won in this discipline on the rainbow circuit since 2019. Beaming Casse at the end of the race: “It’s a result that comes from afar, in a career of ups and downs. The sport has changed over the years, the age has gotten longer. I’m working well, I feel like a youngster and as long as it lasts, on with it.”
