VENICE (ITALPRESS) – Filippo Turetta has been found guilty by the Venice Court of Justice of the feminicide of Giulia Cecchettin and sentenced to life in prison, plus payment of court and prison custody costs and perpetual disqualification from public office.
“We all lost as a society. No one will give Giulia back to me, I am neither more relieved nor sadder than yesterday. It is clear that justice has been done, but we should do more as human beings, gender violence should be fought with prevention, not punishment. As a human being I feel defeated, as a dad nothing has changed compared to yesterday or a year ago,” said Gino Cecchettin, Giulia’s father, after the ruling.
