Champions League: draws for Inter and Bologna, Atalanta in action tonight

Yesterday saw a day of draws for Italian teams in the Champions League. In the afternoon, Bologna was held to a 0-0 draw at home by Shakhtar Donetsk, securing their first-ever point in the competition.

In the evening’s big match at the Etihad, Inter played with remarkable intensity and character, managing to keep Manchester City’s Erling Haaland scoreless. The match ended in a valuable away draw for Inter, who came close to scoring on several occasions and potentially securing a win.

In other fixtures, Sparta Prague and Borussia Dortmund both achieved clear 3-0 victories over Salzburg and Club Brugge, respectively, while Celtic delivered a crushing 5-1 win at home against Slovan Bratislava. Paris Saint-Germain broke through Girona’s resilient defense only in the 90th minute, thanks to an unfortunate own goal by Girona’s goalkeeper, Gazzaniga, who had been impeccable until then.

Tonight at 21:00 CEST, Atalanta, under Gasperini, will face Arsenal, managed by Arteta. Given the attacking philosophies of both teams, a thrilling and open match is expected.
